IKEA museum to open in Sweden

The IKEA Museum will open in the city of Almhult (Sweden) on June 30, in the building where the company’s first store appeared.

On 7,000 square meters of exhibition space, it will be possible to see more than 20,000 exhibits from the company’s archive. The permanent exhibit is divided into three sections: “Our Roots,” “Our Story” and “Your Story.”

The first section will tell about the roots of the company and its founder, Ingvar Kamprad. A very personal exhibit will also be on display here – the box in which Ingvar kept the money he received from selling his first few pieces of furniture.

The second section will showcase the ideas, decisions, successes and failures that IKEA has faced since it opened its first store in 1958.

And in the section “Your story” you will be able to spy the variants of home interior design with the help of IKEA furniture.

In addition to the exhibition halls, the museum building will have several restaurants, where, of course, guests will be treated to IKEA specialty meatballs, and retail outlets.
